Sakura Watch (Updated!)

I am impatiently waiting for sakura trees to bloom! I was delighted to discover that there were a ton of cherry blossom trees in High Park. I never expected that I would be able to see lovely sakura petals in Canada! They even hold cherry blossom walks, which is very crowded, so I will visit on a weekday, when it's less crowded.  I didn't know about it last year, I missed it! > <
When I visit, I want to wear a lovely lacey frilly outfit & hopefully not ruin it. I wish to see this soon:

I am so excited that I keep checking this website to track the progression of the blooms to see when the buds break & I can go down there for a visit.
I hope the weather gets more warm soon, so that the buds bloom into lovely pink & white fluffs of happiness, that I can capture & admire. I can't wait!
This would be the first time I go on a Cherry Blossom watch! There's an Asian mall in Toronto that sells many Japanese things! So I am very excited to go on this Japan themed trip, hopefully soon!

"Sakura // Cherry Blossom buds show clear signs of surviving the cold and snow and are starting to bulge green – the first stage to indicate blooms are now 2-3 weeks away! More frequent updates will begin this week to track when the buds are ready to bloom.(Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)

"Sakura Watch – April 16, 2013 – Buds are big and green and slowly growing to blooms in the next couple of weeks or hopefully by the end of April! With the weather finally starting to look more like spring this week, the buds may finally start moving on into their next stages – let’s see how much changes over the next few days! ...:"(Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)

"Sakura Watch – April 19, 2013 – Buds show first sign of opening including first examples of buds beginning to break open. Cooler temps this weekend may slow down the opening process but the next few days will tell how quickly we can begin to see the first real blooms.
BLOOM PREDICTION:
First blooms will start at end of April
Full bloom will now estimated early May" (Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)

"Sakura Watch – April 21, 2013 – Buds swell and little else is to be seen.
After some more cold wet weather the sun shone today to show only little change in the sakura buds throughout the park. Though defnitely more swollen since last check, little else has changed and so they keep us waiting into May! Let’s hope a sunny and warmer week will help speed up the process!"(Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)

"April 23, 2013: Individual flowers are very visible in the buds and the flowers are starting to grow out of the bud. Approximately 12 days until bloom." (Source: highparknaturecentre.com/)

Buds grow bigger, closer to bloom and are even beginning to demonstrate signs of moving into the next stage towards blooming.
The telltale signs include the buds that seem to stretch out and have distinct dark pink tips (see some of the photos in this album). Its still possible that by this weekend we may start to see a few early blooms begin but the real bloom will most likely have to wait until early May.
The trees near the soccer fields (closest to the Bloor Street entrance) usually start to bloom earliest, and a few trees down the Hillside path towards Grenadier Pond.

"Sakura Watch – April 26, 2013 – Pink tips show hope, but we continue to wait. Blossoms are only starting to show beautiful shades of pink peaking out from the majority of buds. Our cooler weather has left us continue to wait until next weekend to start seeing the blossoms bloom. The good news is that there should still be a decent bloom for many to enjoy during Mother’s Day this year!" (Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)

"Sakura Watch – April 28, 2013 – More pink tips with blooms a week away! One more week until the Sakura // Cherry Blossoms will bloom in the park during the first weekend of May and even continue to bloom to Mother’s Day this year! Here are latest photos shot this afternoon."  (Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)
"With this beautiful warm weather, cherry blossom flower buds are really starting to elongate and a gorgeous deep pink colour starting to show on the tips! At this stage, it is about 6-7 days until blooms start to open. Stay tuned, we'll post regularly this week to keep you up-to-date so you can start to plan your visit to the park." (Source: highparknaturecentre.com/)

"Good news is that this evening the very first Sakura // Cherry Blossom blooms were spotted across from the soccer fields and down the hillside path near Grenadier Pond! This year’s bloom is finally begun and although currently at less then 1% the next few days of warm, sunny weather should easily allow many more blossoms to open up over the week and into the weekend! Here are photos taken this evening:" (Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)
"Exciting news, Cherry Blossom Watchers! The first few blossoms opened this afternoon on the hillside behind the Grenadier Restaurant! The trees are all at different stages - some with flower stems that are still in the elongation stage while others are ready to burst into bloom. We are at about 0.05% bloom now so there is no reason to rush to the park now BUT things are looking good for this weekend and next week. We will keep you posted regularly as the weekend approaches! Planning your visit? Check out our map of the cherry blossoms " (Source: highparknaturecentre.com/)

"Good eve, Cherry Blossom Watchers! We will surely hit peak bloom (70% of blossoms open) on Saturday, if not tomorrow. The hillside overlooking Grenadier Pond is looking beautiful already, while the blossoms in the cooler Spring Creek valley near the Adventure Playground/Zoo parking lot are a few days behind." (Source: highparknaturecentre.com/)

"The cherry trees are in full bloom as of May 3 - blooming is expected to last until the end of next weekend (12th), maybe even a bit longer. However, this may change so if you plan your visit for the 11th or 12th or later you should check back here for an update just before that weekend." (Source: http://www.highparktoronto.com/)

"Sakura Watch – May 3, 2013 – Sakura Watch – 80% Bloom in 3 days! After a long wait mother nature surprised with a quick turnaround that opened up the flowers from 1% to near 80% in just 3 days!!! Thank the warm, sunny weather to take in the beauty this weekend and with some luck these Sakura well stay out until Mother’s Day the following weekend. "(Source: www.sakurainhighpark.com/)
